William “Smitty” Smith - Arts and Science (clip)

Interviewed by Danielle Dulken on January 15, 2023

William Smith: The art form is designing a project and having a finished project. The science is whether you are going to use S type model or pouring the cement. In some cases, you can do a rock wall that has neither mortar mix or concrete. It has no mortar at all, so there is a difference. So, if you do one that doesn’t have mortar you have to be real particular about how it is put together. Because the secret for the rock to stay where it is, it has to have a 3-point contact to keep it stable, so it makes a difference in how the wall goes together.
